2024 Food Drive

At Detweiler Hershey, we believe in not only delivering exceptional services to our clients but also in giving back to the community that supports us. It is in this spirit that we decided to host a food drive for the Keystone Opportunity Center (KOC), and our clients went above and beyond donating bags and boxes full of items.

“Thank you very much for the wonderful donations to Keystone…and for joining the fight against hunger in our community!” Food Pantry Manager at KOC, Clarice Foster, shared.

All donations were weighed in at the food pantry for a total of 531 lbs. Detweiler Hershey also decided to match box donations for a total contribution of $3,500 to the KOC Food Pantry.

How are donations used at KOC?

Every item donated is added to Keystone's available inventory, which is shown to every single neighbor who comes to receive food at the pantry. The donations [Detweiler Hershey] brought will be included in neighbor orders, which provide our neighbors in need with 5 to 7 days’ worth of food.

What impact does the food pantry have on the community?

Our food pantry serves between 250 and 300 families a month within the Souderton Area School District. It is important to keep in mind it is not just food we are providing these families. Providing food allows for our families to dedicate their time and money towards other necessities, like finding work, education, and having peace of mind about what they will be feeding their families. We also have a food delivery service to our seniors in need, who may not be able to make it to the pantry due to physical limitations.

How can people continue to support the KOC?

Donations are the easiest way to support the KOC, whether [it be] food donations or monetary donations through our website or by check. Food is directly placed in our inventory and available for neighbors to select as soon as it is donated, and date checked. Monetary donations help us order food we may be running low on here at the pantry.
